Our October Update

Hello Friends and Family!

Time is really flying by.  In some ways it feels like January 27th, our fly date, is far away, and in other ways it feels like it's just around the corner.  We would be lying if we said these last few months that we have begun preparation have been easy.  But we can honestly say that in the midst of the trials and spiritual warfare, we have felt so much of God's grace.  We have seen His hand at work in so many ways.  There have even been days that we have literally and physically felt His grace because of people's prayers.  So far we have had 2 awesome yard sales, all with donated items and have raised more than we thought we could just from the yard sales.  We have also had 2 Kosovo gatherings where we shared about Kosovo, what God is doing there, general information and our plans about when we return.  We can't express enough how blessed we have been from all of the support and encouragement.

One thing that the Lord laid on our hearts over a year ago when we began to pray more seriously about moving back to Kosovo, was that He would raise up a "team" to send us.  We feel like the new thing the Lord is doing is way bigger than us.  He is doing something far beyond "us" and we feel like the Lord wants to give other people the opportunity to be a part of the work He is doing in Kosovo and beyond.  We really feel like we are only the very tip of the spearhead.  We need the entire driving force behind us, people here at home, who are just as called to Kosovo as we are, but called to stay here, home, and "send" us.  The basic idea is illustrated best through the military. For every soldier on the front line there are 8 other military personnel supporting them. We have an idea of what we and the ministry need in order to function, but we know that God wants to do more than we could ask or imagine, so we are praying for people called by God to have vision in the different areas listed below on what role He would have them play in it all.

As we have prayed about it and sought counsel, the Lord is leading us to use the model found in the book "Serving As Senders" by Neal Pirolo.  And according to that model...

Care Teams are groups of people who God has called to care for the various needs of their missionary here from home.

These people have a heart that is stirred for people of other cultures yet have not heard His call to “go.”  They are called to the ministry of serving as senders in any one or more of six areas of support:

Moral Support- giving an encouraging word

Logistics Support- all the bits and pieces

Financial Support- money, money, money

Prayer Support- spiritual warfare at its best

Communications Support- letters, CD’s & more

Re-entry Support- more than applauding the safe landing of his jumbo jet

There is a wide range of possibility within these areas. It could be something as simple as being on a prayer chain, or as involved as taking a leadership role in one of the teams, coming on a short or long term trip or anything in between.

We will be having our first Kosovo Care Team Meeting for anyone who feels the Lord leading them to be a part of Kosovo in any of these ways, or for those who just want to learn more about it.

Please pray for the Lord to raise up the exact team that HE wants.  Please pray for wisdom and guidance for us and for everyone who the Lord calls to be a part of a care team. 

May the Lord make His face to shine upon you.  May His grace abound to you and give you peace!
